Camponotus singularis

Post 31553 - 10.01.2015 08:02:03

I treated myself and bought this species for Christmas.

This is them just being delivered to work. I placed a pen beside them to show scale of size. The Queen is massive!

I would say this Queen is nearly as large as a small dog lol

They came with 3 workers and 2 pupae.

The Queen has now laid a few eggs.

The eggs have now hatched.

Eine sehr schöne, kleine Kolonie. Die sehen sehr gesund aus. Ich wünsche dir viel Glück damit.

Hi Jonthefish,
She's a beauty, definitely a keeper ;)!
Would you consider to write a report about the colony? Ofcourse only if you have the time, i would realy appreciate the effort!

Greetings Adrus

Hi Adrus,

When you say a report, do you mean like a diary/journal? If so, then yes not a problem.

Hi Jonthefisch,
yes, that was exactly what i was thinking about!
The C. singularis are really pretty and quite big, though they might not be as aktive as other species they are kind of photogenic so i would appreciate your effort.

Greetings Adrus

I think we will have a couple more ants very soon.

Come-out, come-out, come-out to play

Where have all these larvae come from?

There is a whole load of different sizes going on.

But still no sign of the pupae hatching. They continue to get darker.
