Hallo Deutschland! Ich freue mich auf die nächtes ameisen flug. Dass verde mein erste jahr nach Deutschland sind. Tut mir leid für mein schlechtes Deutch. Mein normal sprache ist English.
Hi there,
welcome to ur forum. Most of us speak English well enough to start a conversation in English. So feel free to write in ur foreign language.
I already got a question: what do u mean by ur heading what means in German something like "new ant-hunter of america"?
Kind regards
Stephan
Sorry, i'm also trying to learn and write in german. I mean more hunter as my other english forum says it. However i intend to hunt for local species, raise them into colonies, and make my own formicaria. I'm seeing now jäger is more of a specific term which doesn't really work in this sense.
Hello benjiwuf,
a big welcome to our forum. A few days ago a got an notification in the Formiculture forum that you had updated your location on the member map and I saw that you are now in Germany. So, also welcome to Germany. I hope you'll have a nice time here.
And by the way I think the right German term you are lookin for is "Ameisensammler", which means that you're a person who collects ants for keeping them.
Best regards,
Diffeomorphismus
Yes sir, the move is finally almost over! So much stress relocating, but the German mentality i've seen is more my style than the American one i'm used to seeing. My girlfriend just said your ameisensammeln word was exactly right. I try to post wothout her help sometimes so i tend to get a lot of things wrong. Also i feel it's rather important i at least try to use the native language whether it's difficult/badly translated or not. I can't learn the right way if i don't try at all. I appreciate the understanding and i am sure i will need constant correction for some time.
Hi Benji, nice to see you here. You're already here in germany?
Yes i am, moved here roughly a week or two ago. Hopefully to stay. I'm really excited and happy so far ☺
That is cool. Where do you live?
I hope u live in the south of Germany coz there r the more big ant species like Camponotus herculeanus, vagus etc.
What cicumstances let u move to Germany and what kind of species do u already keep?
I am living near Dresden, and brought no ants with me so I'll probably be starting to keep some again this summer (since all of my equipment is being transported here on the 18th of January). I moved to Germany because of my German girlfriend (now fiancè). Otherwise I'm honestly just in love with the country as well!
